friday night aliza and i drank cocktails and lounged on her couches until 5 in the morning discussing excess; decadence; indulgence; privilege; how our gross is a better gross; the importance of the eventness of dating and, really, events in general; how easy it is to create a world with someone, if you want to; and how nice it is to be nice.

today i was looking at both of our area exams and it’s funny to identify the parts that sound like our conversations. i was recently asked if my work is just me and my books from here on out and i said i hope not, and that one of the main reasons i went to grad school was so i would have a different kind of person to think with. i know how our couch-theorizing manifests on my tumblr, but i look forward to seeing how it eventually manifests in our dissertations.
